Congratulations to Central Islip High School Class of 2014 alumnus, Micah Assibey-Bonsu, on his appointment as Physical Education Teacher at Morrow Elementary School.
Mr. Assibey-Bonsu received his Associates in Liberal Arts from Suffolk County Community College, and subsequently earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Education with a major in Physical Education from SUNY Cortland. He was a substitute teacher and student taught in neighboring Brentwood School District at the elementary and middle school levels before returning home to teach in CI Schools.
While in Brentwood, Mr. Assibey-Bonsu co-coached middle school track, and later served as Varsity Assistant Coach for Track and Field.
Commenting on his appointment to teach Physical Education in CI Schools, Mr. Assibey-Bonsu stated, “Coming back to the place that helped shape me into the person I am today is surreal. I'm happy that I'll be able to share the knowledge that I've learned along the way to the next generation. No matter what school I went to after graduating high school, I had CI Pride in my heart and purple and gold in my veins.
