Reed Middle School 8th grade students celebrated their Moving Up Ceremony marking the successful completion of their 7th and 8th grade scholastic studies. Joining the students and their families was Reed Middle School Principal, Mr. Anthony Coggiano, who welcomed the students, families, Reed faculty and staff, and special guests. Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter was guest speaker. Superintendent of Schools Ms. Sharon A. Dungee, delivered a special address to the 8th Graders, who were also joined by School Board Vice President Mr. Luis Alcantara, school board members Mrs. Michele Harriott, Mr. Glenn Mitchell, Mr. Jim Musumeci, Ms. Debra Cavanagh, Assistant Superintendent for Personnel Mr. Matt Matera, Assistant Superintendent for Special Education Dr. Angela Austin, and Interim Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction Ms. Leila Holmes. Following special awards and presentation of the First Annual Coach Andrew Brown Award by Teacher Mr. Patrick Murphy, students received their Moving Up Certificates. The Board of Education, Administration, Faculty and Staff congratulate the Reed 8th Grade Class of 2022 as they prepare to move up to high school in September.
