Dear Parent/Guardian,

On Monday April 5, 2021 at approximately 2:00 pm, a female student was walking on Vanderbilt Avenue near Oakland Avenue when a brown skin male with black hair was walking towards her. A passing driver noticed the male with his private parts exposed. The driver stopped and confronted the male who fled the area. The male is described as Black or Hispanic, brown skin, 6’ tall, 35-40 years old, wearing a red jacket and red pants. The driver spoke to the female student who was unaware of the potential danger due to having her ear buds in.

A report was filed with the Suffolk County Police Department. Please review this incident with your children and review stranger/safety issues with them in order to help ensure their safety at all times. Encourage them not to walk alone on the streets and be watchful for strangers, especially those who match the above description.

Sincerely,
Thomas Weiner
Director of School Safety
