Smart Board Cleaning

Smartboard Cleaning Tips

  1. Initial Cleaning:
    • Use a dry, soft microfiber cloth. Avoid paper towels.
    • If needed, use a damp microfiber cloth with plain water. Ensure the cloth is not wet.

  2. For Persistent Stains:
    • Apply alcohol-free glass cleaner (e.g., Windex) to a soft microfiber cloth. Never spray directly on the board; apply to the cloth and then gently wipe the screen.
    • Avoid getting cleaner into the pen tray recesses.
    • For stubborn stains, use Expo whiteboard cleaner or isopropyl alcohol.

  3. Avoid:
    • Sponges, Mr. Clean® Magic Eraser, abrasive materials, and harsh paper towels.
    • Permanent or dry-erase markers on the screen.
    • Applying pressure or using unapproved cleaning solutions.

  4. For Severe Stains:
    • Diluted Bleach Solution:
      • Mix 4 tsp. of bleach per quart of distilled water or 1/3 cup of bleach per gallon of distilled water.
      • Apply with a spray bottle to a cloth; do not oversaturate.

    • Isopropyl Alcohol:
      • Use 70-90% isopropyl alcohol, pre-diluted. Dilute higher concentrations with distilled water.
      • Apply with a spray bottle to a cloth; do not oversaturate.

  5. Note: Always test a small, inconspicuous area before cleaning the entire surface.

For assistance with severe circumstances, please consult custodial staff.
