Google Services for Students

Important Information About Google Services for Students

To protect student data and privacy, the New York State Education Department requires parents to give permission for the use of certain Google services. Here’s what you need to know:

  1. Basic Google Services
These include tools like Google Classroom, Drive, Calendar, Meet, Docs, Sheets, and Slides. These are already approved by the state and do not require extra permission.
  2. Additional Google Services
Our district also offers other Google tools called “Additional Google Services.” These are optional and include tools beyond the basic ones listed below.
  3. Parent Consent
Central Islip Parents’ consent to their child using these services unless they specifically opt-out and wish to remove consent. Your child will have access to these additional services unless you decide to opt out. If you don’t want your child to use these services, you must notify the district in writing.
  4. How to Opt Out
    Write to:
    Mr. Philip K. Voigt
    Director of Technology
    50 Wheeler Rd.
    Central Islip, NY 11722
