A Message from the Board of Education and the Superintendent | Veterans Day

As Veterans Day approaches, let us take a moment to remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice, and to honor those who continue to serve so that we, as Americans, may enjoy the freedoms that keep our Nation proud and strong. To all of our Veterans, on behalf of the Central Islip School District Community, thank you for your service!

Eligibility For Transportation

Central Islip residents in grades K-12 attending public or private/parochial schools within Central Islip are entitled to free school bus transportation at the following eligibility levels:

  • Elementary School (Kindergarten through fifth grades): students must live more than 1/2 mile from the school of attendance. 
  • Middle School (sixth through eighth grades):students must live more than 1 mile from the school of attendance.
  • High School (ninth through twelfth grades): students must live more than 1.5 mile from the school of attendance.
