A Message from the Board of Education and the Superintendent | Veterans Day

As Veterans Day approaches, let us take a moment to remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice, and to honor those who continue to serve so that we, as Americans, may enjoy the freedoms that keep our Nation proud and strong. To all of our Veterans, on behalf of the Central Islip School District Community, thank you for your service!

Chromebook & iPad Cleaning

Chromebooks & iPads can accumulate dust and fingerprints if you use it often. If the device needs some cleaning, make sure to do it properly and safely to avoid damaging your device. A soft, microfiber cleaning cloth is recommended for gently cleaning away dust, debris, and fingerprints from the device.

When cleaning your device, never spray water or cleaning solutions directly onto the device. Always spray a small amount onto the cloth first.

Cleaning Your Chromebook & iPad

Preparation:

  • Disconnect all cables from the Chromebook or iPad.
  • Do not spray cleaning solutions directly onto the device.
  • Avoid using abrasive or corrosive materials.
  • Use a soft, microfiber cloth for cleaning.
  • Always start with just some clean water on a moist soft cloth and if that does not work, proceed to using wipes.

Cleaning Process:

  1. Unplug the Chromebook or iPad and disconnect all cables.
  2. If needed, lightly spray a small amount of cleaning solution (e.g., Windex, screen cleaner, or water) onto the microfiber cloth.
  3. Wipe the device gently in one direction to avoid damage.
  4. Repeat until the screen is free of dust, fingerprints, and smudges.

For Very Dirty Devices:

  • Use a Clorox Wipe, Baby Wipe, Alcohol Wipe or Lysol Wipe if other methods are ineffective.
  • Unplug the Chromebook or iPad and disconnect all cables.
  • Wipe the device carefully with the wipe.
  • Follow up with a microfiber cloth to remove any wipe residue.

The same process can be used to clean the keyboard, touchpad, screen and body of the Chromebook or iPad.  Start with simple moist cloth and progress to wipes if needed.
