Four Student Athletes Honored at College Signing Day

Four Central Islip High School seniors were honored for committing to play their respective sport at the collegiate level on Wednesday, May 7, in the CIHS cafeteria.

The student-athletes in attendance were twin brothers Isaac and Isaiah Cardenas, who will be playing soccer at SUNY Old Westbury; Kureshma "Bre" Dhanraj, who is committed to playing softball at Brooklyn College; and Jaida Mills, who is committed to playing softball at Assumption University.

Ms. Trish Lectora, athletic director, welcomed all family and administration in attendance and congratulated each student on their accomplishments before wishing them well in the future endeavors.

Dr. Sharon A. Dungee, superintendent of schools, offered her praises before Mrs. Michele Harriott, board of education trustee, gave her words of wisdom to the students about the importance of hard work, dedication to their studies and keeping in touch with their families.

Also joining Dr. Dungee and Mrs. Harriott were Mr. Glenn C. Mitchell and Mrs. Maureen Esposito, board of education trustees.

The Central Islip School District wishes all four athletes nothing but success in their athletic and academic careers.
