Our nation, businesses and schools are under an ever-escalating attack with threats that include:
- Ransomware, Extortion and Financial Fraud
- Viruses and Malware
- Identity Theft and Impersonation
- Hackers and Targeted Attacks
- State-Sponsored and Organized Cybercrime
Right here in Suffolk County dozens of school districts and government agencies have been shut down for weeks, impacting their missions and costing millions of dollars in lost time and recovery efforts due to these cybercrimes.
Central Islip School District has developed a multi-tiered strategy to protect our students and staff, and is presenting a community forum to share some of these solutions, as well as practical advice how individual can use similar strategies to protect themselves in everyday life:
- The Anatomy of an Attack – Real-world Examples of How Organizations are Penetrated
- Security tools and measures used to protect CISD
- Protecting Student Data Privacy
- Risk Management as an On-going Process
- Common Personal Attacks, Scams and Phishing Schemes and How to Avoid Them
Mr. Voigt, the district’s NYSED Data Privacy Officer and the District’s Director of Technology will lead a community forum to showcase the district’s updated cybersecurity arsenal and risk management and how we keep the district’s network and data secure. Also present will be members of the district’s technology team, as well as cybersecurity and risk management experts to provide further information.
This community forum welcomes any Central Islip community member, student, faculty, staff, administrator, or school board member interested to learn about how Central Islip is defending our network from cyberattacks and how to protect themselves in the challenging threat environment of everyday life.
