Central Islip School District Common Texts
3rd Grade – 12th Grade
WHAT IS A COMMON TEXT?
A common text is an agreed upon work of literature or informational text used for classroom instruction in grades 3 through 12 (7th-12th grade English classes at the middle school and high school level). It is the district’s expectation that upon the successful completion of each grade level, all students will have read and analyzed each designated common text.
Teachers and administrators may collaboratively suggest changes to the agreed upon common texts. Any suggested changes must be forwarded to Central Islip School District’s Curriculum Council for final approval.
