Having been employed as a Custodian in the Central Islip School District from 1978 until he retired in 2019, Mr. Delgado, Jr. has an acute understanding of school buildings and grounds. "Living in Central Islip for 50 years, and having worked in the School District as a Custodian for 41 years have given me a clear understanding about the nuances of our School Community, and, I have learned a lot about our School District's facilities, repairs on our buildings, and from a personnel perspective, I am familiar with the duties and responsibilities of our employees," Mr. Delgado, Jr. explained. During his tenured employ, Mr. Delgado, Jr. stepped up to serve in the role as Acting Chief Custodian at Central Islip High School for a one-year period. In a voluntary capacity, he coordinated a boxing program, and organized a boxing fundraiser where net proceeds benefited scholarships for high school seniors.

Ensuring students are given a strong educational foundation, combined with sound fiscal management of school operations are what Mr. Delgado, Jr. says are his priorities as a School Board member. "Doing the right thing to help the Community - both our Students and Residents - is what is most important to me," Mr. Delgado, Jr. said. "As a member of the Board of Education, I take serving our Students and my Community very seriously."

Mr. Delgado, Jr. utilizes his spare time volunteering with Heavy Hitters Boxing Gym, and he served as a volunteer with PAL for 22 years.
