Senior Spotlight: Nicholas Laibhen

SENIOR SPOTLIGHT: NICHOLAS LAIBHEN
GPA: 98.96

Nicholas Laibhen is a member of the National Honor Society and My Brother’s Keeper. He plays alto saxophone in the Central Islip High School Marching Band, where he serves as section leader, and he also performed in the pit orchestra for Shrek the Musical. In addition to performing, Mr. Laibhen was part of the technical crew, helping to literally shine the spotlight from the lighting booth during school productions.

He is active in the Jazz Ensemble and the STEM program. Mr. Laibhen served as vice president of Men of the Future during his junior year and currently serves as the organization’s recording secretary.

After graduation, Mr. Laibhen plans to use his background in computer science as a foundation to enter the cybersecurity field. With a long-term goal of becoming both a technology teacher and a cybersecurity analyst, he will attend SUNY Stony Brook to major in computer science. He was also accepted to NYIT, Farmingdale State College, Alfred State, Rochester Institute of Technology, the University at Buffalo, and Suffolk County Community College.

Proud of his Musketeer heritage, Mr. Laibhen said, “Our entire school system is based on diversity, where our strengths are highlighted and you are proud to be who you are.”

He gives shout-outs to his teachers, Dr. Griffin and Mr. Ehrhardt, and high-fives to his parents and siblings.
