Senior Spotlight: Christopher Castillo

Welcome to the 2026 Senior Spotlight series! This weekly feature will run every week until Central Islip High School's graduation ceremonies. Enjoy!

Senior Spotlight: Christopher Castillo

Activities, Clubs & Leadership Roles:
STEP with NYIT (Secretary); CI Marching Band (Leadership Corps); Lead Chair Trombone Player for the CI Jazz Ensemble; Science National Honor Society; National Honor Society; Pit Orchestra for The Wiz, Beauty and the Beast, and Shrek.

Most Meaningful Activity:
The activity that meant the most to me is being a part of the marching band. It helped me grow not only my leadership skills, but it also helped with my teamwork abilities, learning to properly communicate with a group that large, or else we would not be able to get the movements down for an image to appear properly on the field.

Plans After Graduation:
My plans are to go to college, get a master’s degree, and find a job to be able to live comfortably somewhere.

Future Career Goals:
I plan to study mechanical engineering in hopes of one day either working on building cars or at NASA.

Staff Member Recognition:
Mr. Jerry Ryan and Mrs. Villatoro—for always guiding me throughout my high school career.

Role Model / Inspiration:
My father. I've seen him get up for work at 4:30 every day for 18 years. He is the hardest-working person I know, as he always tries to support his family. I hope to be just as hardworking as him and to be able to help him eventually, as he deserves some time to rest also.

What Central Islip Means to Me:
It means understanding what a community is. No matter where a person ends up, they will still be a Musketeer—the supposed underdogs, yet they are still able to make it places even if they are labeled as such. It’s important to always remember where you come from.

Proudest Accomplishment:
My biggest accomplishment is making it to the top 30 of my class. It means all the hard work I have done was able to pay off.

Advice to Underclassmen:
Appreciate the time you have with everyone you consider to be someone you care about. As much as it may seem like you have forever, time goes by faster than you expect.
