O'Neill Students Learn About Amanda Gorman

In celebration of Black History Month and in an effort to focus on less recognized figures, Ms. Carney’s first graders at O'Neill Elementary School learned about Amanda Gorman, the first National Youth Poet Laureate and an activist and best known for delivering her poem “The Hill We Climb” at former president Joe Biden’s inauguration.

"We listened to and read her poem which sparked the discussion of how we can be a light in the world," Mrs. Carney said.
