O'Neill Students Contribute Leaves to Kindness Tree for 9/11

O'Neill Elementary School took a unique and thoughtful approach to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks.

As part of the school-wide theme of “Rooted in Kindness,” a Tree of Remembrance was displayed near the school’s main entrance.

The purpose of the project was to honor those who lost their lives while encouraging students to reflect on kindness, unity, service and helping others.

Each class contributed leaves to the tree, creating a meaningful visual reminder that acts of kindness can help strengthen our community and those around us.

The initiative was inspired by the book This Very Tree: A Story of 9/11, Resilience and Regrowth by Sean Rubin.
