Musketeer Monday: Yohara Perez

Cordello Elementary School fifth grader, Miss Yohara Perez, is this week's Musketeer Monday feature—and she’s proud to share her incredible 100% attendance record! Get to know Miss Perez as she shares what makes her school experience so special.

Miss Perez says she enjoys doing homework and always turns her assignments in on time. Her favorite subject is writing poetry. She also loves school because she learns new things and gets to spend time with her friends.

When asked which teachers she’d like to give a special shout-out to, Miss Perez didn’t hesitate: “Ms. Hamblin and Mr. Hart.” She also gives a high five to Cordello Assistant Principal Mrs. Yenifer Mercado. “I like dancing with Mrs. Mercado,” she said, referring to the ballroom dance classes held at the school earlier this year.

Looking ahead, Miss Perez has big dreams—she aspires to become a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) nurse one day, explaining, “I love babies.”

She is the youngest and only girl in a family of five children and loves spending time with her parents. Her favorite color is navy blue, and her favorite holiday is Christmas because she gets to bake cookies, spend time with her brothers, watch movies, and open presents together.

Miss Perez also loves music—she plays the clarinet in the Cordello band and participates in both the music club and computer club.

“Yohara is a wonderful student,” said Mrs. Mercado. “She earns good grades, always has a smile on her face, and loves to dance. She is a well-rounded student and someone you can always count on.”
