Musketeer Monday Form

Musketeer Monday Part One: Jason Torres, Senior, Central Islip High School

Q: What is your favorite subject in school, and why?
A: Although I do not take many classes, Practical Office Experience is my favorite. I work in the main office, where I gain firsthand experience in a professional office environment. I assist students at the front desk with tasks such as completing application forms, providing grab-and-go forms, and handling deliveries. I’ve learned how to manage all of this with the help of the ladies who work in the main office, and I give all the credit to them.

Q: Are you involved in any school activities or clubs? If so, which ones?
A: Football.

Q: Have you ever taken on a leadership role at school (e.g., Safety Patrol, Student Council)? Please describe your experience.
A: None.

Q: Have you received any awards, honors, or special recognition? Tell us about them.
A: I have earned Honor Roll recognition every quarter from my freshman year through my junior year.

Q: Do you participate in any activities outside of school, such as community theater or sports? Please explain.
A: I play football, and at first it was extremely nerve-racking practicing and wearing full pads. Over time, I improved a lot thanks to the support and guidance of my coaches. They helped me build confidence not only as a football player, but also in myself. I am incredibly grateful for the group of guys I played with—they are like brothers to me, and I feel truly blessed to have shared the field with them for the past four years.

Q: Have you ever performed in a play or musical? If yes, what role did you play, and what was the experience like?
A: Never.

Q: Who are your biggest role models in school? Who are your biggest role models outside of school?
A: Some of my biggest role models in school are Ms. Rosado and Ms. Terrana. Ms. Rosado works in the main office and is funny, kind, and energetic. She makes the school feel more welcoming and is always willing to help students. Being around her puts me in a good mood and makes my day better. Ms. Terrana is another role model because she brings positive energy everywhere she goes. She has consistently encouraged me to do my best and believe in myself, helping me become a better person both in and out of school. Outside of school, my biggest role models are my parents. They are my strongest supporters, keep me grounded, help me learn from my mistakes, and guide me toward success.

Q: What qualities do you believe make someone a good leader or role model in school?
A: A good leader or role model is kind, supportive, and respectful. They lead by example, treat everyone fairly, and stay positive and encouraging—especially when others are struggling. They motivate people to do their best, are trustworthy, and are always willing to help.

Q: How do you contribute to creating a positive environment at your school?
A: I try to be a positive and encouraging person. I bring good energy and am always willing to help anyone who needs it.

Q: Please list a teacher or staff member that has made a positive impact on you and explain why.
A: Ms. Terrana, Mr. Hawker, Mr. Kline, and Ms. Fee. All of them have helped me not only academically, but emotionally as well. On days when I didn’t feel like going to school or was in a bad mood, they always found a way to make me smile or laugh.

Q: What is your favorite part about your school?
A: My favorite part of school is seeing my friends and the adults who positively impact me and getting to interact with them.

Q: What are some activities you do in your spare time outside of school?
A: I play soccer and guitar.

Q: What’s your favorite book, movie, or TV show right now, and why?
A: My favorite show right now is Stranger Things. I’ve been watching it since 2016, and I got to watch the finale on New Year’s Eve. It was an amazing show with an incredible ending.

Q: How would your friends describe you?
A: Funny, energetic, enthusiastic, and random.

Q: What does being a good classmate or friend mean to you?
A: Being a good classmate or friend means being kind, respectful, and supportive. It means listening, helping when someone needs it, including everyone, and being honest and caring through both good and difficult times.
