A Message from the Board of Education and the Superintendent | Veterans Day

As Veterans Day approaches, let us take a moment to remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice, and to honor those who continue to serve so that we, as Americans, may enjoy the freedoms that keep our Nation proud and strong. To all of our Veterans, on behalf of the Central Islip School District Community, thank you for your service!

Musketeer Monday: Laurie Klein

Meet one of Central Islip’s phenomenal music teachers, Ms. Laurie Klein, in this week’s Musketeer Monday spotlight!

Ms. Klein began her teaching career in the Central Islip School District in 1987 as a leave replacement for the band teacher at Mulligan Elementary School. She now serves as Mulligan’s band teacher.

When asked about the most rewarding aspects of her job, Ms. Klein shared: “The most rewarding part of my job is teaching students how to play their instruments and bringing a love of music into their lives. It is also very rewarding to see students I taught in elementary school become great musicians in high school.”

Reflecting on the camaraderie at Mulligan Elementary, Ms. Klein said, “It’s great working with co-workers to bring a sense of community and family to the Music Department—it creates memories that last a lifetime.” She added, “It’s always a great feeling to see former students become music teachers and continue to spread the love of music.”

In her spare time, Ms. Klein enjoys cooking and spending time with her family and friends.
