Musketeer Monday: Itzel Jurado

Alfano Elementary School sixth grade student, Itzel Jurado, is featured in this week's Musketeer Monday spotlight.

When Itzel sat down for her Musketeer Monday interview, she responded to each and every question with a bright smile, eagerly anticipating the questions that followed. Here is her story. Itzel loves school, has an excellent attendance record, and her favorite subject is ELA (English Language Arts). She attended Mulligan Elementary School before coming to Alfano Elementary School.

Itzel is both musically and athletically inclined. She plays flute with the Alfano Elementary School Band, and for sports, she loves playing tennis at her home. Itzel said she likes joining all school clubs, but singled out Music Club as her favorite with Miss Zara and Ms. Burgess! Her hobbies are drawing, but she pointed out that she "mostly" likes tennis and flute.

Itzel is particularly fond of her principal, Ms. Carmen Vazquez, whom she chatted quite candidly about: "Ms. Vazquez is really very nice, and she knows all the kids. She makes every day so much fun, and she is so happy and loveable."

Asked which teachers she might like to give shout~outs to, Itzel gave her high fives to Mrs. Austin, Ms. Nelson, and from Mulligan, she gave a special shout~out to Ms. Goldfarb.

Itzel's favorite color is purple, and her favorite holiday is St. Patrick's Day because, she explained, "My birthday is the day before." Her older brother, Edgar, is a student at Central Islip High School, and she said that her parents are her role models, adding, "My parents are very supportive of me!" Itzel has a German Shepherd named Coco, and a pet cat and kitten, (both gray tabbies), named Tofu and Bear, respectively. Asked what she would like to be when she grows up, Itzel replied: "I'd really love to be a veterinarian because I love animals very much."

Itzel's teachers, Mrs. Jennifer Austin and Ms. Dina Nelson, conveyed their thoughts about their shining student in their shared testimonial: "Itzel is an amazing student whose dedication and attitude make her stand out every day. Itzel has near perfect attendance and shows true passion for learning. She is always respectful, engaged, and ready to contribute thoughtfully to class discussions. Her kindness, reliability, and strong work ethic make her a true pleasure to have in class and as a role model for her peers."
