Mulligan Welcomes Caitlin LoCascio

Get to know Ms. Caitlin LoCascio! After gaining extensive classroom experience, Ms. LoCascio is beginning her career in the Central Islip School District as a First Grade Teacher at Mulligan Elementary School!

Ms. LoCascio earned her Master of Science degree in Special Education/Childhood Education (Grades 1–6) from Touro University Graduate School of Education, graduating with a 3.8 GPA. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Towson University in Maryland, where she was on the Dean’s List from 2018–2022.

Prior to her appointment in Central Islip, Ms. LoCascio taught in the Brentwood Union Free School District at Southwest Elementary School and in the Connetquot Central School District at Cherokee Street Elementary School. In those roles, she planned and implemented units of study, differentiated instruction to meet academic levels and IEP goals, attended CSE meetings, and participated in parent-teacher conferences.

Ms. LoCascio is also a familiar face within Central Islip Schools. Before her student teaching in Brentwood and Connetquot, she worked at O’Neill, Cordello, and Mulligan elementary schools in roles including School Teacher Aide, Substitute Teacher Aide, and Teaching Assistant.

Reflecting on her new position, Ms. LoCascio shared: “I’m so beyond excited and blessed to have gotten where I am today. I have learned so much in the past three years, and it makes me more excited to know I have my own classroom. I have gained so much knowledge from all of the teachers I’ve worked with, and after going through graduate school and gaining so much background, now I want to take all of this combined experience and make it my own.”

In her free time, Ms. LoCascio enjoys spending time with family and friends. “I love going to the movies with my friends, watching TV shows, and looking into scene sets and how the shows are made,” she said. Before teaching, she held non-speaking background roles in shows such as Law and Order and worked behind the scenes on Amazon’s Fallout as a production assistant.

She also has a passion for traveling and exploring new cultures. She has visited Costa Rica, Spain, and Puerto Rico, and hopes to continue traveling to different countries. Closer to home, she enjoys playing pickleball with her dad and friends, as well as pilates, swimming, the pool, the beach, and other adventurous activities.

When asked about her family, Ms. LoCascio said: “My family is definitely very supportive. Coming home from work or graduate school, they always gave me suggestions or helped me with my homework if I had questions, and I knew I could always turn to them. My parents were always right there and have been amazing, and my brother is great! My boyfriend’s mom is a retired first grade teacher, and now I’m getting my first class as a first grade teacher, so that’s nice too.”

The Board of Education, Administration, Faculty, Staff, and the Mulligan community warmly welcome Ms. LoCascio to Central Islip Schools!
