Morrow Welcomes Michael Womble

Central Islip School District welcomes Mr. Michael C. Womble to the A. T. Morrow Elementary School as Physical Education Teacher. Mr. Womble graduated from SUNY Cortland with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Physical Education. He was on the Dean's list in Fall of 2021 and Fall of 2024.

His professional membership affiliations include, but are not limited to, SUNY Cortland Alliance of Physical Education Majors, New York State Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance, and the Council for Acceptional Children.

Mr. Womble's teaching experience includes his most recent assignment as a Physical Education Student Teacher at both Central Islip High School, and Belmont Elementary School in the North Babylon School District. Outside the classroom, Mr. Womble was Assistant Coach of the Girls Varsity Track Team at Central Islip High School, and Assistant Unified Basketball Coach at North Babylon High School.

Mr. Womble said he is "really excited to be teaching Physical Education at Morrow Elementary School", and that all of the teachers he met while he was a student teacher at Central Islip High School were "super friendly."

During his free time, Mr. Womble said he loves to hike and travel. He's recently been to Bermuda and Aruba, and plans to visit Croatia and Italy with his family - his mother's native land. "My Mom was one of nine girls born in Naples. She traveled to America at the age of six, and did the best with the cards she was dealt", Mr. Womble said. "My dad was born in Queens and attended St. John's University. My sister went to SUNY Cortland and works at the Suffolk County Water Authority."

Congratulations to Mr. Womble on his assignment as Physical Education at Morrow Elementary School.
