Jimmy Gaston Jr. Named Thomas Cutinella Award Winner

Central Islip High School senior star football player Jimmy Gaston Jr. was awarded the Thomas Cutinella Leadership Award.

Gaston, who led the Musketeers varsity football team in rushing and was a key member of the defense, earned the honor during the Suffolk County Football Coaches Association awards dinner.

He earned a spot on the Long Island Top 100 Football Players before he began his senior season and was an all-county selection.

"As our team captain and best overall player, Jimmy set the tone for our program every single day," head coach Sean Christie said. "Despite battling injuries and setbacks throughout his varsity career, Jimmy’s perseverance never wavered. From the moment I took over as head coach in my first year, Jimmy became the cornerstone of our culture—buying in completely, showing perfect offseason attendance, and inspiring his teammates to do the same through his example."

Gaston Jr. plans to attend college to study phyiscal education before fulfilling his ultimate dream: returning home to Central Islip to teach and coach football.
