Cordello Showers Veterans with Gratitude on Monday

Cordello Elementary School had a busy morning of festivities for its local veterans ahead of Veterans Day tomorrow.

The morning began with a breakfast where veterans were served food and refreshments by Cordello safety patrol students. A parade around the building followed breakfast where each veteran was greeted with rounds of applause by students in the hallways.

Ms. Ruggiero's chorus students performed America, the Beautiful vocally and through sign language before Mr. Hait's four band students performed an impressive renditino of Taps.

Each veteran was invited to speak to the students about their time in the armed forces, which featured stories about the Army, Marines and Air Force.

One of Cordello's own, Ms. Kristine Yanza, recently completed her contract with the Army and returned to teach kindergarten. She offered guidance and advice to students about her journey in the military.
