Cordello Second Graders Visit United Nations Headquarters

Mrs. Jennifer Goncalves' second grade class from Cordello Elementary School visited the United Nations in Manhattan this morning for a guided tour of the building and learned about the history of the organization, its mission to promote peace and cooperation among nations, and the important work it does around the world.

The morning started with a train ride from Central Islip to Grand Central, where the students and their chaperones made their way east to the United Nations headquarters.

The tour commenced as students were immersed in behind-the-scenes looks at diplomatic meeting spaces and learned about the history of the United Nations, how the organization works in everyday life, and much more.
