Central Islip School District Welcomes John Piropato

Mr. John Piropato comes to Central Islip School District highly decorated with a wealth of experience and credentials in Physical Education, Health & Athletics. 

Mr. Piropato earned his Professional Diploma in Educational Administration from Long Island University/C.W. Post Campus-Brookville. He received his M.A./L.S. from SUNY Stony Brook, and his B.S.E. in Physical Education from SUNY Cortland. His certifications include: New York State School District Administration, New York State School Administration & Supervision, New York State Permanent (Physical Education: K-12), and NIAAA - Certificate in Athletic Administration.

Mr. Piropato is a familiar face to some in and around Central Islip Schools, having served as Coordinator of Physical Education, Health & Athletics from September 2001 - September 2002. He then worked as the Director of HPEA at Oyster Bay Schools for six years before leaving for Massapequa in 2008.

Subsequent to retiring from Massapequa Public Schools in 2021 after a 14-year tenure as Director of Physical Education, Health, Athletics & Recreation, Mr. Piropato remained active in his field of expertise having recently served as a student teacher supervisor for Adelphi University and SUNY Cortland.

Mr. Piropato has also worked as the Interim Director of Physical Education, Health & Athletics on four occasions, working for the Uniondale, Carle Place, Northport-East Northport and Eastport-South Manor School Districts over the past four years. Prior to his tenure as a school administrator, Mr. Piropato was a Physical Education teacher and coach in the Brentwood UFSD beginning in 1987.

In 2018 Mr. Piropato was named NYSAAA Athletic Administrator of the Year (Chapter 8). In 2019, he received the St. Rose of Lima Community Service Award. Other of Mr. Piropato's professional affiliations and recognitions include National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association; New York State Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation & Dance; Suffolk Board of Women's Basketball Officials; New York State Athletic Council of Administrators. 

As he prepares to once again take the helm of Central Islip School District's Department of Physical Education, Health & Athletics, Mr. Piropato has established a comprehensive set of goals that set a standard of excellence as he steers the district along a groundbreaking pathway of success for our student athletes and their coaches, and school spirit for the entire Central Islip School Community. 

Mr. Piropato's strategic set of goals include, but are not limited to, serving as a valuable resource for teachers and coaches by equipping them with the knowledge and tools necessary to support student success; assess and upgrade athletic facilities and equipment to ensure a safe and competitive environment; develop quality athletic programs that support student-athlete development, sportsmanship and competitive excellence, and to strengthen relationships with parents, alumni, and our community to promote school spirit and support for athletic events. 

Prepared to take Central Islip athletics to a renewed level of excellence, Mr. Piropato shared: "I am truly honored and excited to return to Central Islip and work with such a dedicated and hardworking staff."
