Alfano Celebrates Black History Month

Alfano Elementary School hosted a Black History Month celebration themed “Then. Now. Next. The next 100 years starts with us.” The program brought together students, staff, and community members to honor Black history through performances and presentations.

The event featured a welcome address, musical selections including “Lift Every Voice and Sing,” a motivational message from Dr. Errol D. Toulon Jr., Suffolk County Sheriff, and student-led performances such as spoken word, drama, dance, and a step performance. Students also presented readings like “Hey Black Child” and a collaborative piece titled “Respect,” highlighting the importance of culture, history, and unity.

The program conlcuded with a performance by Alfano's first-ever Step Team and ignited loud cheers from the entire gymnasium.
