Mr. Garcia is planning to be a Biochem pre-med major, pursuing a career as a Pediatric Neurologist. He has received letters of acceptance from Adelphi University, Hofstra University, NYIT, SUNY Stony Brook, and Penn State.
Active in his church community, Mr. Garcia volunteers and assists with the Worship Tech Team where he provides the lighting and livestreaming during Sunday services. Through the Youth Ministry, he volunteers with soup kitchens to package and deliver meals on an ongoing basis, and once volunteered to help the New York City Love Kitchen. During Haitian Vacation Bible School, Mr. Garcia serves as a co-leader to help instruct younger children.
When asked to share a little about who his role model might be, Mr. Garcia replied: "My Mom is definitely my role model. If I start to feel burnout from a highly competitive schedule, my Mom is always very encouraging and uplifting me. She is also a huge supporter of my decisions."
Asked what being a part of Team Musketeer means to him, Mr. Garcia explained: "CI is a very diverse community with people from many different backgrounds that we (Musketeers) are exposed to moreso than in many other communities. So, when I go to college, I won't have the stigma of those who are different. I will be open to others' ideas. Also, in CI, seeing some people with low incomes doing great things is very inspiring to younger people. They see that, (regardless of income), they can be successful."
