Harmony in Motion at High School Instrumental Spring Concert

As part of the Spring Concert series in the Central Islip School District, the high school instrumental groups performed at the Central Islip High School auditorium on Wednesday night.

Led by Mr. Jeremiah Ryan, the concert band began the evening with three songs: “Citadel” by Frank Erickson, “Metamorphosis” by Gary Fagan, and “The Great American Frontier” by Erik Morales.

The symphonic band followed and was directed by Mr. Kevin Pyle. Their three pieces were as follows: “Galop Festivo” by Randall Standridge, “Sheltering Sky” by John Mackey, and “Into the Joy of Spring” by James Swearingson.

Mr. Pyle directed his jazz band through three entertaining numbers: “Jungle Boogie” by Kool and the Gang, “Fables of Faubas” by Charles Mingus, and “Sir Duke” by Stevie Wonder.

The final act was the widely known wind ensemble, directed by Mr. Ryan, and they closed the evening with “National Emblem” by Edwin Eugene Bagley, “Cry of the Last Unicorn” by Rossano Galante, and “Animation: Episode 1 “Wabbit” by Randall Standridge.

In a heartwarming act, a handful of graduating seniors presented Mr. Ryan with a custom signed music stand to thank him for the impact he has made on their academic and musical endeavors.
