Hard Workers! Science Research Summer Institute Underway

Entering her 10th year guiding the program, Mrs. Roann Roderick gathered a group of Central Islip High School students for the Science Research Summer Institute.

The program is designed toward a "student centered" environment where the students will research, problem-solve, and experiment that will gain hands-on experience.

Some areas that will be explored are ecology, biochemistry and microbiology of the natural world.

During the first week, students will utilize portable and stationary pH probes, calculating and measuring saline stock solution for brine shrimps and planarians using an electronic scale and graduated cylinder for quality control and media preparation.
