Musketeer Monday: Toluwalogo Thomas

Welcome to this week’s Musketeer Monday spotlight, where the Central Islip School District proudly features Morrow Elementary School sixth-grade student Toluwalogo “Tolu” Thomas.

Tolu is being recognized for his perfect attendance and his passion for learning. “I love coming to school, and I always jump at the chance to learn,” he said.

In addition to his attendance, Tolu is celebrated for his extraordinary aspirations. He has set his sights high—literally. “I want to be a doctor, or President of the United States, or an astronaut,” he shared. With a deep interest in space exploration, Tolu added, “I know a whole lot about the history of rockets and planes, and I would like to one day go to Mars, or the Moon, or the International Space Station.”

As for his presidential ambitions, he explained, “I want to be President because I want to help people and make their lives better.” Tolu also offered a bit of personal wisdom: “There is no life that has challenges that doesn’t have good success.”

When asked about his favorite school subjects and thoughts on homework, Tolu responded: “I love all subjects equally, and homework is very essential to learning. When you do your homework, you’re refreshing your brain on what you learned for the day—and you’re learning something new.”

Tolu doesn’t have a “favorite” teacher because, in his words, “I love them all equally.”

Outside of the classroom, Tolu stays active with extracurricular activities. He plays the alto saxophone in the Morrow Elementary School Band, participates in the computer and math clubs, and has a strong love for reading.

Tolu also wanted to give special shout-outs to his music teachers—Mrs. Majeski, Mr. Lopez, and Ms. Bremer. “They have enhanced my knowledge of music,” he said. He also praised Miss Leriche, calling her “a great teacher!”

Tolu shared that his role models are his parents, and he proudly noted that he is the oldest of four siblings.

In his free time, Tolu enjoys riding his bike and jumping on his trampoline. His favorite season is summer because his birthday falls on August 22. But he also loves winter “because it snows, and it’s cozy—and it snows.”

Looking ahead, Tolu is excited to attend Reed Middle School, though he said he will always treasure the many fond memories he’s made at Morrow.
