Musketeer Monday Part Two: Anthony Muzio
Meet Cordello Elementary Custodian Mr. Anthony Muzio, featured in this week's Musketeer Monday column! Mr. Muzio serves as a Custodial I and takes great pride in the way he carries out his many responsibilities.
Mr. Muzio was just 20 years old when he began his career in Central Islip Schools in June 2019 as a substitute custodian at Andrew T. Morrow Elementary School. Through a combination of "hard work, determination, and great mentorship," Mr. Muzio explains, he earned a full-time custodian position in October 2019. In August 2021, he transferred to Cordello Elementary School. "Here, I began gaining more experience, especially in leadership skills," he noted.
Mr. Muzio's job encompasses a broad range of responsibilities. He explains, "My duties include ensuring the building is sanitized and up to standard. I make sure to clean every square inch of every assigned classroom, collect and discard garbage, and check the building to ensure it is secure before leaving."
When asked about the most rewarding part of his work, Mr. Muzio shared, "The best part of my job is when the students notice the difference I make in organizing their learning space. There's one class that always applauds me when I walk by, and it always makes me smile. I take a lot of pride in the cleanliness of the building and the shining floors."
Outside of work, family comes first for Mr. Muzio. He shares, "In my free time, spending time with family and friends is always at the top of my list. Whether playing or watching sports or playing fetch with my five-year-old Australian Pomeranian, Roscoe, these activities keep me active. I also enjoy traveling to different countries with my girlfriend, Gabriella. La vita è bella! Life is beautiful."
When asked about his family, Mr. Muzio quipped, "What can I say about my family? They're a lively, spirited bunch who have filled my life with love and laughter. Their support and traditions have helped shape me into the person I am today."
Cordello Elementary Principal Dr. Nathaniel Marner shared high praise for Mr. Muzio, stating, "Cordello has a cohesive school family that puts our students first, and I could not be prouder to have Mr. Muzio on our team. He maintains Cordello Elementary in immaculate fashion. Upon entering our school, you immediately notice how shiny and clean our floors and corridors are and how our classrooms are neat, tidy, and sanitized. On behalf of the Cordello school family and our students, thank you, Mr. Muzio, for taking care of our very proud school."
