Musketeer Monday Part One: Britnae Tillett

She’s a proud Central Islip High School alumna, Class of 2007. Meet Mrs. Britnae McFadzean-Tillett, a teaching assistant at Alfano Elementary School.

Mrs. Tillett became a permanent employee in 2022. Her responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assisting students with classwork, homework, and projects to reinforce their understanding of materials. She provides one-on-one or small-group support to students who need extra help, encouraging and motivating them to stay engaged and confident in their learning.

When asked about her experiences and the rewards of her work, Mrs. Tillett said:

"Every day, I get to support and uplift students who walk the same halls I once did, reminding them that their dreams are within reach. Seeing their growth, confidence, and success fuels my passion for education and community service. It's incredibly fulfilling to be a role model and a source of encouragement, knowing that I am helping create a positive and lasting impact in my own community."

Mrs. Tillett has been married for 12 years and has two daughters—one in fourth grade and one in first grade—who attend Cordello Elementary School. In her free time, she enjoys traveling with her family. “Our favorite place to visit is Belize,” she added.

She is the founder of CI Connects for Change, a grassroots community organization dedicated to uplifting and empowering the people of Central Islip. “Our mission is deeply rooted in the values instilled in us as students of Central Islip: pride, perseverance, and community.” She also serves as president of the Cordello Elementary School PTA and vice president of the PTA Council.

Alfano Elementary Principal Carmen Vazquez offered high praise for Mrs. Tillett:

"Mrs. Tillett exemplifies excellence in her role as a teaching assistant. Her commitment to supporting teachers and students creates a positive learning environment where everyone thrives. With meticulous attention to detail, she prepares materials ahead of time, provides thoughtful feedback on students’ work, and offers additional help to those who need it most. Mrs. Tillett constantly goes above and beyond her required duties. Her patience, reliability, dedication to the district and community, and genuine passion for education are evident in everything she does, making her an invaluable asset to Alfano Elementary School and the Central Islip community."
