Musketeer Monday Part One: Alene Mejia

Meet Alene Mejia, whom the Central Islip School District is proud to feature in this week's Musketeer Monday!

Mrs. Mejia began her career in the Central Islip School District in March 2001, working in the music office at Central Islip High School. In 2003, Mrs. Mejia transferred to the business office, where she currently serves as a senior accounting clerk. In this role, she works alongside her team of colleagues, performing a wide array of complex financial duties.

When asked to describe the complexities of her role, Mrs. Mejia explained: "I primarily handle the accounts payable for the school district, processing payments for vendors. I also process purchase orders for all of our schools districtwide, helping and assisting teachers and clerical staff in ordering the supplies they need for classrooms and offices."

Asked to share the most rewarding aspects of her job, Mrs. Mejia said: "I find that anyone I help in our school district is always so appreciative of my time. Even after almost 25 years of service, it still makes me feel good to hear that. My co-workers—the people in this office—are truly my second family. We've been through everything life throws at us together, while still getting the work done."

Mrs. Mejia and her husband, Romeo, are approaching their 30th wedding anniversary in May. "We have a daughter, Theresa, who will be graduating with a bachelor's degree in business management this spring," Mrs. Mejia proudly shared.

She is a dedicated and family-oriented wife, mother, and aunt. "My spare time is mostly spent helping my family," she continued. "My three nephews are a big part of my life. With Tommy, Johnny, and Alex, I have three kings and a queen. My nephews are all married with babies of their own, and I enjoy babysitting and doing whatever I can to help them out."

Congratulations to Mrs. Alene Mejia as she shines in this week's Musketeer Monday Spotlight!
