Musketeer Monday: Hazard Azanon

He’s got a perfect attendance record and is an exemplary role model student! Meet Hazard Azanon, a shining star in this week’s Musketeer Monday spotlight.

Hazard is a sixth-grade student at Mulvey Elementary School, and he’s eager to share his story—especially his passion for soccer. He plays center back for his school’s team and hopes to join an outside league next year. He also enjoys playing soccer video games and is excited to join the soccer team at Reed Middle School in September. His dream? To one day become a professional soccer player.

Hazard’s favorite subject is math. “I’m very good at numbers,” he said confidently. When asked about homework, he replied, “Homework is like a little test to see if you know your work.”

Hazard said he loves school and gave special shout-outs to his principal, Mr. Brett MacMonigle, and assistant principal, Mrs. Rebecca Garcia. “They are always supporting me in soccer,” he said. He also gave a nod to Ms. Terino, adding, “Ms. Terino always says I’m a good student.”

In addition to sports, Hazard is musically talented. He plays the saxophone and was a member of the Mulvey Elementary School Band last year. He even won a soccer net in a school-wide raffle!

Hazard was excited to share a few of his favorite things with the Central Islip School District community. His favorite holiday is Christmas. “I like Christmas because that’s when the family gets together—and I get gifts,” he said. His favorite color is green.

Hazard has a five-year-old brother and expressed how proud he is of his parents. “My mom and dad are very supportive, and they are always telling me to go beyond my limits,” he said. He’s also fond of his uncle’s dog, Luna. Then, with a smile, he added, “Luna means ‘moon’ in Spanish.”

Congratulations to Hazard as he moves up from Mulvey Elementary School and prepares for an exciting new chapter at Reed Middle School this September!
