Musketeer Monday: Clervenska Neptune

Central Islip High School senior Miss Clervenska Neptune ushers in the New Year as 2025's first Musketeer Monday feature! Born in Haiti, Miss Neptune proudly shares that she is a first-generation American. Her family initially settled in Brooklyn before making Central Islip their home in 2019.

Just as the Neptune family was adjusting to life in America, the global pandemic struck, making the transition—first to isolation, then to gradual social reintegration—exceedingly challenging for Miss Neptune and many others worldwide. "Since freshman year, finding my way around CI, then isolating and returning to normal life, was a challenge. Dr. Hunter was very caring and extremely helpful to me," Miss Neptune shared. "Dr. Hunter also introduced me to the YES program, where I met Mrs. Mitchell, who has also been fantastic."

Miss Neptune plans to graduate in June and pursue majors in Psychology and Graphic Design. She is considering applying to Rutgers, Bowie State, and Stockton.

Miss Neptune credits her guidance counselor, Ms. Sanchez, for helping her navigate the college admissions process. To bolster her college applications, she plans to take the SAT in December, carefully weighing her options and opportunities. If accepted into Rutgers or Bowie State, she plans to live with her sister, Natalie Neptune-Mustafa, whom she fondly describes as being "like a second mom." "I absolutely love her because she has always been there for me. I can rely on her, and I aspire to be like her," Miss Neptune said.

At home, her parents provide the foundation for a stable and supportive lifestyle, essential to her success. "I love my mom and dad. My mom works very hard and taught me how to be ambitious and independent," she shared. "I get those traits from her, and I also look exactly like her!" Miss Neptune proudly noted that she comes from a large family of seven siblings.

Miss Neptune particularly enjoys her Participation in Government class. "We're learning so much about social issues in this class," she said, adding that it will be extremely helpful in her quest to major in Psychology in college.

Reflecting on her life in Central Islip, Miss Neptune expressed gratitude for her community and the support she has received. "I love it here in CI. I feel like we're all family, and I really have to thank Dr. Hunter, Ms. Sanchez, and Mrs. Mitchell for being there for me," she said.
