Musketeer Monday: Anthony Guagliardi
Congratulations to Mr. Anthony Guagliardi, who is featured in this week's Musketeer Monday Spotlight! Mr. Guagliardi serves as the Head Custodian of Alfano Elementary School.
Having grown up in the Hamlet of Central Islip and attended Central Islip Schools since Kindergarten, Mr. Guagliardi graduated from Central Islip High School as a proud member of the Class of 1994. He began his career in the Central Islip School District in May 1998. Starting at Alfano Elementary School, Mr. Guagliardi went on to work at Cordello and O’Neill elementary schools, Reed Middle School, and then Morrow and Mulligan elementary schools, before coming full circle and returning to Alfano Elementary in his current role.
Mr. Guagliardi’s responsibilities are numerous and diverse, as he explains:
"I oversee cleaning, write up all work orders for building maintenance, fix things, and handle all sorts of cleaning—like when students get sick or when there are water spills. I also accept deliveries, remove snow, and assist when the District receives incoming backpack deliveries from various sources, for instance."
When asked about the most rewarding part of his job, Mr. Guagliardi shared:
"The best part of my work is seeing all of the kids and my co-workers, and getting to know so many different people. Meeting the kids and being part of such a nice school community is really fun and the most enjoyable part of my job."
On a more personal note, Mr. Guagliardi and his wife of 20 years, Dana, have two children: a 17-year-old son and a 13-year-old daughter. In his spare time, he enjoys spending quality time with his family and playing video games with his son.
