Message from the Superintendent and Board of Education - December 2024

Holiday Greetings to Our Central Islip Neighbors and School Community,

It is with a deep sense of pride and privilege that we, on behalf of the Central Islip Board of Education, administration, faculty and staff, wish you and yours a joyous and healthy holiday season.

Pride and privilege go hand in hand in our school community. We, as educators, are filled with so much pride to see the numerous accomplishments and countless successes of our students who, with the expertise of our administrative and teaching teams, and the care and compassion of our support staff, achieve their personal best.

Likewise, we are privileged that you entrust us with the lives of your children who come to school each day to get a balanced education and learn many of life’s lessons.

With the holiday season upon us, we want to reiterate how heartwarming it is to see the countless acts of kindness bestowed by our students and staff onto so many in our school community. Throughout this holiday season, food basket collections and clothing drives will again be organized to help bring holiday cheer and warmth to our less fortunate neighbors. Many of our students have been creating holiday greeting cards that are being sent to U.S. troops serving overseas. Additionally, corridors of all eight of our schools are being decked with our students’ original holiday-themed artistic creations under the guidance of their art and classroom teachers.

The holiday season will be capped off with this season’s Winter Concert Series, featuring the vocal and instrumental talents of our students under the tutelage of their music teachers. We invite our school community to attend any of our concerts for an evening of festive enjoyment. The full concert series schedule can be viewed by visiting our school district’s website at www.centralislip.k12.ny.us.

Perhaps this famous quote by W.C. Jones will help put the holiday hustle and bustle into perspective: “The joy of brightening other lives, bearing each other’s burdens, easing each other’s loads, and supplanting empty hearts and lives with generous gifts, becomes for us, the magic of the holiday season.”

As we celebrate the holidays and prepare to usher in the new year, we are extending warmest wishes from our Central Islip School Family to you and your families.

Happy Holidays!
