Central Islip Holds Reorganizational Board Meeting Ahead of 2024-25 School Year

The Board of Education, at the July 8th, 2024 Reorganization Meeting, conducted official business and made a number of annual appointments.
Following the oath of office administered by Kevin A. Seaman, Esq., to newly elected Board members (Luis Alcantara, Debra Cavanagh and Maureen Esposito), nominations were called for the offices of President and Vice President of the Board. Mr. Luis Alcantara and Ms. Debra Cavanagh were nominated and unanimously elected as President and Vice President of the Board, respectively, then took oaths to their offices. Ms. Denise Ridgeway was unanimously appointed District Clerk.
In Ms. Ridgeway's absence, School Board member Mrs. Maureen Esposito shall serve as District Clerk. Following appointments of District Treasurer and Deputy Treasurer, Mr. Seaman administered the oaths of their respective offices to Superintendent of Schools Dr. Sharon A. Dungee and District Clerk Ms. Denise Ridgeway.
The Board of Education enacted several appointments and designations including Claims Auditor, School Attorney, Internal and External Auditors, District Architect and Engineer of Record, Public Relations Consultant, Adult Education Advisory Board, Purchasing Agent, School Physicians, and coordinators for Title IX, Dignity Act, Section 504, Title II, Emergency, Asbestos Management, and Emergency.
The Board also made appointments for officers including Data Privacy, Medicaid Compliance, and Records Access, as well as Translation Services and Impartial Hearing Officers. Appointments were made to the CSE, CPSE, SCSE, Surrogate Parents and 504 Committees. At the Regular July 8th Board of Education Meeting which immediately followed, the Board approved warrants, and made various Instructional and Non-Instructional appointments. Also accepted was Cordello Elementary School's Comprehensive Education Plan. The Board approved budgetary appropriation transfers and awarded various contracts including Hawkins Delafield & Wood LLP, Bond Counsel; Health Services; Graham International Consulting & Research; PMA Management Corp; and US OMNI & TSACG Compliance Services, Inc.
The next business meeting of the Board of Education is scheduled for August 12th at 7:30 p.m. in the Alfano Elementary School Multi-Purpose Room, located at 50 Wheeler Road, Central Islip, N.Y.
