Hard Work Pays Off! 21 Students Test out of NYSESLAT

A plethora of third through sixth grade students were recognized for a special achievement on Wednesday morning.

Ms. Carmen Vazquez, Alfano Elementary School’s principal, held a celebratory breakfast for 21 students for scoring “commanding” and testing out of the New York State English as a Second Language achievement test (NYSESLAT).

“I’m so proud of all of you here today,” Ms. Vazquez told the students. “You all have been working extremely hard for this, and because of your efforts, you won’t have to take this test again. It’s at testament to your hard work and dedication.”

Each student was called up to receive a personalized certificate to commemorate their success. After the brief presentation, students were treated to bagels and donuts for their achievements.

Also in attendance was Ms. Jasmin Dengeles, assistant principal, Ms. Joanne Cicciaro, Ms. Ashley Meisner and Mrs. Arienne Perez.
