It is my privilege to be the Director for Bilingual/ESL Programs at Central Islip School District. It is my duty to implement the mission of our Transitional Bilingual Education (TBE) and English as a Second Language (ESL) Programs.

Es un privilegio para mi ser la Directora  del departamento Bilingüe y de Inglés como Segundo Idioma del Distrito Escolar de Central Islip. Mi deber es poner en práctica y de implementar nuestros programas Bilingüe Transicional (TBE) y de Inglés como Segundo Idioma (ESL).

Program Overview

The Transitional Bilingual Educational (TBE) program has been designed and organized according to guidelines established by the Office of Bilingual Education of the NYSED, and has been implemented in Central Islip School District in a manner that promotes the spirit of the District Mission statement which, "Empowers all children to maximize their learning potential..."

The Focus of TBE program is to help ELLs develop their English Language skills and to exit students into English-only classrooms as quickly as possible.

English as a Second Language, is a program that utilizes a teaching approach designed to help students acquire proficiency in the English Language through the use of specialized methodologies and strategies. All students are prepared to meet the new and more rigorous New York State Standards and Assessments.

Descripción General del Programa

El programa Bilingüe Educacional Transicional ha sido escogido y organizado de acuerdo a los estatutos  de la Oficina de Educación Bilingüe del Departamento de Educación de Nueva York, y ha sido implementado por el Distrito Escolar de Central Islip de una manera que genera y promueve el espiritu que el Distrito tiene como misión que es el, "Alentar y optimizar el potencial de aprendizaje de todos los niños..."

El enfoque de este programa es ayudar a todos los ELLs (estudiantes que aprenden inglés) a desarrollar destrezas y habilidades en el idioma inglés para que puedan integrarse a los programas monolingües (sólo inglés) tan pronto les sea posible.

Inglés como Segunda Idioma, es un programa que emplea una forma de enseñanza diseñada para ayudar aquellos estudiantes a que aprendan inglés mediante el uso de metodologías especializadas. Preparamos a todos los estudiantes para que logren las nuevas normas y que pasen las evaluaciones del estado de Nueva York, los mismos que son mucho más rigurosos.
